Introduction

Profile photograph of Rob LanceyFeng shui has been practised for thousands of years and will still be relevant for thousands of years to come due to its flexible and dynamic nature. Even though our lives have become more complex and high-tempo the order of the universe and the essential evolution of mankind have remained constant. We have the same needs, desires and fears that our distant ancestors had and our appreciation of simple pleasures will be with us forever.

Feng shui understands our animal instincts, what images, shapes and colours make us feel threatened, relaxed or inspired and uses this knowledge to enhance our surroundings, room by room, floor by floor and object by object. It recognises the invisible forces we are constantly subjected to and seeks to create a working harmony between these energies to make us feel both invigorated and at peace.

There is so much more to this ancient art than interior design and flower arranging and, with reference to the famous maxim ‘To master Feng shui would take more than one lifetime’, I’m sure you will forgive this simplistic introduction to such an incredibly complex and ancient philosophy.

Robert Lancey is an accomplished hypnotherapist (his work being featured on Radio Wales and in the South Wales Echo) but started his career as an interior decorator. He always had a fascination with the relationship between his customers and their environment and how colour, texture and form could completely transform the ‘mood’ of any room. When Robert discovered feng shui, so many of his questions were answered and he was able to take his knowledge of the human psyche out of his office and into the homes of his clients. He may not have all the answers as he has not yet lived more than one life. (as far as he knows!)
